What is an unvented cylinder?
An unvented cylinder has a direct feed from the mains cold water supply. This means that they deliver hot water throughout your property at mains pressure. Vented cylinders are stored under high pressure, with the pressure being derived from the inlet water supply.
One advantage of an unvented cylinder is that they can improve shower pressure or increase flow rate with bath water. Furthermore, unvented cylinders do not require cold water storage tanks. This means that they take up a significantly less footprint. Making them ideal for houses with loft conversions or flats and apartments.
Heating water from an unvented cylinder is easy. Hot water can be added to the system by connecting it to a central heating system such as renewable biomass or heat pumps and even solar panels.
Unvented cylinders are equipped with safety mechanisms such as Pressure Relief Valves (PRV), twin thermostats and expansion vessels. So, you can be sure that your system is safe and effective.
